Teradyne’s Grant Program is designed to foster new technologies and help them grow. We encourage you to propose your concept and develop it from an idea into a reality.

概述

For almost 60 years, Teradyne has been part of the electronics revolution transforming our world. Over the past 10 years, smartphones went from a brand new idea to something that almost 1.8 billion people buy every year. Companies like Teradyne have developed the tools to make sure all the electronics in those phones are working perfectly, making this revolution possible.

Now, the world is getting ready for more incredible changes with self-driving cars and advanced AI. Teradyne will be enabling those technologies too – and we’d like your vision to be part of our next innovation.

In addition, Teradyne offers internships for students who have interests or research that aligns to, or expands, the R&D work being conducted at Teradyne. If you are interested, you can apply or submit your resume via our Job Opportunities page.

1. What is the purpose of the Teradyne Grant Program?
The Grant Program has been created to connect Teradyne with engineering innovators through R&D projects that apply creative solutions to evolving technologies related to our business.

2. What kind of grants does Teradyne seek to fund?
The grants we are looking for should be closely aligned with areas, such as, Ultra High Voltage, High Current Instrumentation, mmW RF components, ASICs, High Performance or High Density Signal Delivery, AI software, etc). However, in our dynamic world, these topics can change and we are always evolving.

3. What topics or priorities do I need to address to be eligible for this grant?
The main criterion we look for when choosing a proposal is that the topic is in a field of interest that aligns to our business. We require regular progress reports, including a final report. We will also review any publications prior to release, in order to protect the value and non-disclosure of the research innovations.

4. Who is eligible to apply for this grant?
It is highly desirable that you are a graduate level student (but not a requirement) and associated with an accredited school. We encourage applicants whose interests and research align to, or expand upon, our own. We feel that the most successful research agreements recognize the benefits of sharing the learning from the research between the accredited school and the company sponsor, while simultaneously protecting the value and non-disclosure of research innovations.

5. Where should I begin my process?
You should begin your process by deciding whether Teradyne aligns to your concept. If your project goals and qualifications align, please complete a grant application form. From there, your application will be sent for evaluation by our internal review board.

6. How do I apply?
You can begin your application process by filling out our application form. The application form requires contact information, educational information and project details. The application form also requires a brief paragraph about the project description and purpose (400 words), the project benefits and goals (400 words) and how you and your school plan to promote the Teradyne Grant Program (200 words).

7. How should my proposal be formatted?
Your proposal will be completed through the online application form. Please be sure to answer all required fields. Also, note at the bottom of the application form that there is a spot to upload additional supporting documents.

8. What is the deadline to submit my proposal?
You can find a complete list of deadlines located under the ‘Deadlines’ drop-down on the Grant Program homepage. We ask that all proposals be submitted by the end of March to be eligible for a potential research start date in August.

9. Do you accept proposals from outside the United States?
We will accept proposals from students at accredited universities in all of our engineering locations (i.e. US, Costa Rica, Singapore and Japan).

10. Can I apply to Teradyne’s Grant Program more than once?
We will accept multiple applications, but make one award per year, per student.

11. How does the review process work?
Once an application is submitted, it will be evaluated by our internal review board where the board will decide the best proposal(s) to receive the grant(s). The applicants we choose will be notified and receive an award letter with future important dates. Proposals not selected will also be notified.

12. How will I know if my application was received?
A confirmation/status email will be sent when the application form is submitted and you will be notified of any questions, as well as when a final decision has been made.

13. What happens to an application after it has been submitted?
After an application has been submitted, it will be evaluated by our internal review board. After the board processes all proposals, applicants will be notified whether they have been selected or not.

14. When will I be notified about the status of my application?
All applicants will be notified in June about the status and/or selection of their proposal. You can also find a complete list of the deadlines located under the ‘Deadlines’ drop-down on the Grant Program homepage.

15. Who reviews the project application and makes the funding decisions?
Our internal review board will evaluate all proposed project applications that have been submitted before the March deadline.

16. What happens if I find another grant while waiting for a decision?
You will be allowed to formally withdraw your submission by sending us an email. We will acknowledge and confirm.

17. If my application is accepted, will I be required to sign a contract?
Recipients will be required to sign a Grant Agreement. If Teradyne does not receive the completed Grant Agreement within 30 days of notification attempt, the applicable grant is forfeited.

18. What happens if my application gets rejected?
If your proposal gets rejected, we hope you understand that we cannot accept every grant. We greatly appreciate your hard work and we encourage you to apply again in the future.

19. If my proposal is not selected, is it possible to revise it and apply at a later time?
Yes, Teradyne will accept multiple applications from a student per year, but will only award one grant per student, per year.

20. Do I have to finish all of my research in the grant period?
No, you do not have to finish all of your research in the grant period. However, if the project will not be completed and/or more time and money are being requested, then we ask to be notified promptly. We feel that each grant is unique and will decide what the next best steps are for the company and for the project.

21. What happens during the project and after it is completed?
Throughout the grant process, we require regular progress reports, as well as a final report when the project is finished. After completion of the project, we ask to review any publications prior to release to protect the value and non-disclosure of certain research innovations.

22. If I have any further questions who can I contact?
If you have any further questions please feel free to reach out to Jack O’Brien at jack.obrien@teradyne.cn or through the Contact Teradyne page.
